TECHNICAL WRITER

PERU TRANSPARENT PUBLIC INVESTMENT (TPI) PROJECT

Background

USAID’s Transparent Public Investment Project (TPI) aims to promote public integrity to reduce corruption in public investment and procurement processes. It seeks to improve the capacity of public entities and civil society to prevent, identify, and control corruption, through increased citizen participation and multi-stakeholder dialogue of the sectors involved, aiming to strengthen a culture of integrity.

 

Purpose

The Technical Writer will produce high-quality and on-time TPI project and ad-hoc reports and documents in English. He/she will work closely with the project team to obtain technical contributions and inputs to produce reports and documents.

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

The Technical Writer is responsible for performing the following duties:

  • Produce high-quality project reports in English and submit them by the respective deadlines established in the project prime contract by USAID and/or as established by the Chief of Party (COP) and Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP). Such reports include quarterly reports, bi-weekly reports, ad hoc reports, calendars, annual work plans, annual performance reports and the project final report.
  • Prepare documents in English for visits by US Government officials or visitors from Chemonics home office; documents for USAID events; documents analyzing regulations and legal developments related to public procurement, public investment and/or integrity; project success stories; and any other report requested by the COP and/or DCOP.
  • Produce high-quality reports in English, using the USAID approved format and in line with the project’s Marking and Branding requirements.
  • Work closely with the project’s results leads, specialists, and COP/DCOP to obtain contributions and inputs to produce project reports and documents.
  • Structure the reports with the COP and/or DCOP and submit all reports for the COP’s review before submission to USAID.
  • Other duties/tasks as assigned by the COP/DCOP.

 

Place of Assignment 

The place of performance under this contract is Peru. The Technical Writer will be based in the project’s Lima office, with occasional travel to other regions of Peru.

 

Reporting Responsibility 

The Technical Writer will report directly to the COP.

 

Minimum required qualifications and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as communications, international relations, the social sciences, law or literature.
  • Minimum of 3 years of work experience in positions requiring report writing and/or editing or 2 years of experience and a Master’s degree, preferably with international cooperation agencies/projects.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Fluency in English (native strongly recommended) and ability to communicate in Spanish.
  • Strong communication skills in English, including advanced writing, translation and editing.
  • Excellent ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Capacity to work both independently and in a team environment.
